B.S., Computer Engineering, December 1996.
EXPERIENCE:
- 1992 : Constructed inventory/billing management system for The Extra
Closet of Fort Myers, Inc., Package still in use.
- February, 1993 to December, 1996: Student consultant to the Computer
and Information Sciences department at the University of
Florida. Responsibilities included customer interaction, maintenance of
software, design and implementation of in-house applications.
- Summer, 1993 to December, 1996: Administered backups for the Computer
and Information Science and Engineering department at the University of
Florida. responsibilities included design, implementation, and
maintenance of backup management software for CISE system and user disk
space,with capacity to restore to any status in the last 21 days, with
24--hour granularity.
- Summer, 1993 to Summer, 1994: Student assistant with the President's
Office, University of Florida. Duties included applications tutoring
for secretarial and administrative staff and several redesigns of
Protocol and Major Contact database from Paradox 4.0 DOS to Paradox 5
for Windows, and thereupon to Microsoft Access.
- Fall, 1994 to present: Served as consultant on Internet presence to the
President's Office, University of Florida. Advised the Associate Vice
President for University Relations on web and Internet issues. Work
included the design and implementation of the UF Calendar. Work is in
progress now on version 2.0.
- Fall, 1996 to present: Student employee and (beginning March, 1997)
Systems Programmer, NERDC, UF. Work duties included
- implementation and administration of enterprise backup services
- design and implementation of in-house applications
- maintenance and modification of legacy in-house code (C,sh,ksh,PERL).
- DB/2 database installation, maintenance, and design
- new code to support the 'GatorLink' campus services.
- support and maintenance of Remedy ARS three-tier trouble-ticket system.
- UNIX Systems administration
Packages and major projects currently in use:
- ufl_auth, and ufl_admin, "middleware" in support of
the UF GatorLink infrastructure, which allows systems not capable of
native Kerberos authentication to do less-secure authentication making
use of a Kerberos server.
- The UF Calendar, the official calendar of events for the University of
Florida.
- "Protocol Database", mailing list database designed to allow precise
management of mode of address to mailing targets. Two installations:
UF President's office, and Florida Times-Union
- "The Extra Closet", package written in Paradox for DOS, which automates
many functions of a storage business, including the allocation of
storage units, billing, and tax recording.
