How to Navigate This Site

HIS 3930 -- Spring 1997
Each page on this site will have a row of buttons at the top (and at the bottom on long pages) that will allow you to navigate around the site. When you place the cursor over a button, the button's function is shown in the status bar at the bottom of the browser window.

The row of buttons on a page varies based on where you will likely need to go from that page. So every button is not on every page. However, the buttons for the Home Page and this navigation page are on virtually every page.

Following is a description of all twelve buttons and their functions:

Return to The Home Page: This button should be available on virtually every page. You can always return to the Home Page to get your bearings.
Join This Week's Discussion: Jumps to the ongoing discussion for the current week. When you are in the HyperNews discussion pages, it will post a new message.
Review Previous Discussions: All the discussions from previous weeks will be available to read, but not add to, simply by clicking on this button.
How to Navigate This Site: Jumps to the page you are viewing now.
Read The HyperNews Help Page: Jumps to the HyperNews help page for instructions specific to using the discussion groups.
Requirements and Grading: Jumps to a page of describing the requirements of the course. That page has 3 links explained by the following 3 buttons:
Required Reading List: Jumps to a page with the table of contents of the Reader with the required reading materials for the course. This page also includes a link to a draft list of books of interest for the various topics of our colloquium.
Course Grading Policies: Jumps to a page describing the course grading policies.
Possible Topics For Discussion: Jumps to a page with a list of possible topics for discussion.
Semester Schedule: This page displays a table with the calendar events for the semester.
Print Out The Course Materials: This button doesn't actually print these course materials, but includes instructions to do so, with a link to a printable version of the materials.
