Since the last edition of IT Connections, Web Administration has been working on a number of interesting projects including Calendar, On-Line Course Evaluation, WIPA login pages, and Workflow/Approvals. We also produced major redesigns of urel.ufl.edu, gogatornation.com and performingarts.ufl.edu.

Calendar: The Calendar Working Group volunteers reviewed a number of options for updating calendar.ufl.edu and other calendar systems at UF. You can find an overview of our work at www.webadmin.ufl.edu/projects/calendar. The final recommendation was delivered to Marc Hoit, CIO, in early August.

On-Line Course Evaluations: As another enterprise-wide collaborative project, Web Administration has successfully led a diverse group to bring together an effective and useful application. The current beta is available at test.evaluations.ufl.edu/ufevals. The Colleges of Education, Nursing, and Agricultural and Life Sciences have evaluated on-line courses. Thousands of students have used the beta system to review courses that were offered on-line in the spring and summer terms. We will continue working to improve the beta and look forward to an enterprise-wide roll-out as soon as practical. Additional information can be found at www.webadmin.ufl.edu/projects/evaluations/.

WIPA login page: In conjunction with CNS, Web Administration updated the wireless internet protocol login pages. This page remains GatorLink authenticated. Now, however, it also uses UF templates for consistent branding.

Workflow/Approval: Web Administration has been developing and testing an application that provides users the ability to track, evaluate and approve business process documents via an easy-to-use website. This work began in early 2007 and has had assistance and support from the Graduate School, Office of the University Registrar, Purchasing, General Counsel, and the Faculty Senate Office. In early September, The Graduate School will begin using this system to track Graduate Degree Program and Graduate Curriculum change requests with this application (approval.ufl.edu).

Urel.ufl.edu: The redesign moved the office of University Relations to one consistent UF template format for the wide range of groups that now make up this important and active organization.

GoGatorNation.com: Ahead of a arge volume of publicity based on the athletic calendar, Web Administration worked with University Relations to update this site with a new layout. We reviewed the activities and content update from the first year of operations to identify opportunities to improve the site for users and content producers alike. One new feature is a giveaway that University Relations will manage on a regular basis.

PerformingArts.ufl.edu: Working closely with the staff at the Center for Performing Arts, Web Administration identified key business activities and supporting information. The site moved from custom-coded HTML and a complex information design to a simple, clear layout and streamlined administrative tools.
