CNS has begun upgrading the Gatorlink remote access Virtual Private Network (VPN) infrastructure with new equipment. These new concentrators will allow CNS to support AES encryption, in addition to the currently support Triple DES (3DES).
AES is more easily done is software, and thus is more friendly to VPN software clients. The new equipment is over 4 times the throughput of the current hardware and supports all existing Gatorlink VPN clients.
This transition will be transparent to the user, and once completed, CNS will begin field testing new features. Updates to this project will be sent to the "vpn-l" LISTSERV.
